First day of church
Mom and dad took me to the M. Ward today because they were too lazy to drive all the way to Durham. We just stayed for sacrament. I look pretty handsome!

Dear Parker
Buddy boy, in about two seconds I am going to decide for you. You are going to go in your crib and sleep. And you are going to LIKE it, gosh darn it!

My parents should have named me Murphey
...because I'm a huge fan of Murphry's law. For example, as soon as mom was done tying the laces on my tiny Chucks, I very loudly dirtied my diaper. Serves that crazy woman right... who puts shoes (or pants) on a 3 week old baby?

Thankful
Sometimes I am just overcome with the fact that he is here, that he made it through the whole pregnancy, and he is ours. It's been a difficult road to get here, and sometimes it felt like this would never happen for us. Ever.
I am human, though, and other times I am just overcome with the overwhelming desire to sleep more than 3 hours at a time. ;)
The past two weeks have shown me how blessed I am. Not only with P, but with amazing friends and family. Jon has been awesome and made sure that he worked from home as often as possible so I can get some rest. We are really lucky that his job affords him that flexibility!! Our ward family has been awesome, too, bringing meals and all sorts of offers for help. And of course, my mom, who came and helped us transition from the hospital to home, stocked our fridge and didn't call CPS on us.
Happy 2 week birthday, little man!

Sunday best
I'm too little to go to church yet, so we all got dressed up and watched old conference talks over the internet. Mom said she needed to feel like there are actual days in a week, rather than everything blurring into one long feed/wake/sleep cycle.
I look pretty handsome, don't you think?

This is what regret looks like
Maybe I should have thought twice about knocking back 6 oz in under 5 minutes. I am only 11 days old, you know...
Oh gosh what have I done

Product review: bibs
Omg. Bibs. Where have you been all my life?? I love that my clothes don't get covered in drool everytime I eat now. Why haven't my parents been using them until now?
I give these beauties 5 out of 5 stars!
My foot, part 2
Thanks for your concern about my nasty foot, guys! I'm not totally sure what happened. My doctor thinks that it got infected after a heel stick while I was in the hospital after being born. As the scab got bigger and greener, mom got more freaked out. Pair that with the fact that I'm the sleepiest baby of all time (I snooze for about 22 hours a day!!), mom decided it would be a good idea to get me checked out asap.
Anyway, my foot looks way better. I've been taking some antibiotics and will see the doctor again on friday. As for my sleepiness, doc said I'm just in a food coma. I scarf down about 4oz of formula PLUS 40 minutes of nursing every 3 hours... and I've tripled the average weight gain for babies my age. I'm fat and happy!

These are a few of Mom's favorite things
If you couldn't tell by the diaper situation, Mom and Dad are pretty new to this whole parenting thing. Guest blogger Mom wants to share some of the products that she's used during the past week that have made keeping me alive easier.
Ps, here's a picture of me looking adorable in my bassinet, wrapped in a stolen hospital blanket. You can also see my favorite 100% cotton blanket by my feet.

boppy pillow
I love plopping him down on this thing while we are sitting on the couch. I don't use it much for nursing, though.
medela quick clean micro-steam bag
This makes sterilizing pump parts so much easier. Clean the parts quickly by hand, then pop em in the micro steam bag and nuke it for 90 seconds. BAM. Sterilized.
diaper caddy
We have a basket with several compartments for diapers, wipes, etc. downstairs so everything we need is right there. Out of all the baby products we own, this has been the most helpful.
fisher price rocker/bassinet
This is so lightweight that I can carry it up and down the stairs depending on where I want it.
receiving blankets that we got from the hospital
I'm not sure if taking some of them home with us is considered stealing... I mean, we are paying the hospital a ton of money.... right? Anyway these make for the best swadeling
watch with a light
Time seems to have lost all meaning since P was born (everything just blends together these days) but its good to know what time I fed/changed/put him down. The light is helpful in case I'm nursing him in bed or in our rocker with the lights out.
aden and anais 100% cotton blankets
These are so light that P doesn't get overheated during this crazy heat wave. Plus if the blanket accidentally covers his mouth a bit, he can still breathe.
A diaper by any other name would smell as stinky
Wanna know how many outfits I went through yesterday? Five! I've been leaking through clothes my whole life and Mom and Dad couldn't figure out why... turns out I'm too big for newborn diapers. It only took them almost a week to figure that out....

Product review: the boppy pillow
OMG guys I love this thing. Mom uses it to hold me up when I eat, but mainly I just use it as a big chair. If you have a baby on the way, BUY THIS. You're welcome.

Mom may want to reconsider kissing the ground I walk on
Ew. Look at my foot. Mom is such a worry wart that we are all stuck in the ER waiting to get it checked out. While we are here, I wonder if someone can please get my mom a perscription for chill pills?
Updated: I was sent home with antibiotics and a follow up appointment. Also a bill for the $150 copay. Sadly I was unable to convince anyone to get mom those chill pills I was looking for...

My grand entrance
Guys, I've had the CRAZIEST week. I am going to have a guest blogger, Mom, tell you all about it.
****
On the 28th I checked into the hospital for my scheduled induction. My RA was just horrible the past few weeks of my pregnancy so my doctors and I decided to induce at 39 weeks. I started a pitocin drip at 9 am. I tried to hold on without an epidural, which was stupid, until late in the afternoon. It was stupid for me to wait so long- after I got it I relaxed and labor progressed much more quickly.
After about 14 hours of labor, P's heart rate started acting funny. He wasn't in distress, and the doctor said that the heart rhythms were indicated one of two things: either the baby was too big, or his cord was wrapped around his neck. After an attempt to try to get his heart rate back to normal by fixing the cord, they decided to do a c section.
While I was in surgery , the first thing all of the doctors said was "wow that's a big baby!!" P weighed in at 9 lbs 6 oz and was 22 inches long.
After four days in the hospital, we got to go home. We have been so happy together! Special thanks go to my mom, who drove for hours and hours each way to be here for us... and for taking such awesome care of us! I'm pretty sure we all would have died without her. Thanks also to my amazing vt for food, pet sitting, and visits. We are so inccredibly blessed.
